Working in a residential Aged Care facility

An aged care facilities are usually approved providers that run Australian Government subsided aged care homes, they provide accommodation, personal care, and 24 hours care and nursing and other general services. In Aged Care they have varied shifts that are on offer including morning shifts, afternoon shifts, night shifts, shifts are on offer 24 hours a day.

Aged Care tasks can vary but are not limited to

Personal Care Tasks- Assisting someone or providing personal care supports including showering, drying, dressing, applying creams, assisting with their oral care, making the client’s bed, continence care
Mobility- - Assisting them with walking or assisting them with transfers using the correct manual handling
Assisting with social and recreational activities- Encouraging and facilitating 1-1 or group social programs for the clients
Documentation- Creating and documenting in care plans, progress notes

Personal Care Tasks- Assisting someone or providing personal care supports including showering, drying, dressing, applying creams, assisting with their oral care, making the client’s bed, continence care.
Social and community Access- Spending time with the client finding like-minded hobbies, interests or activities.
Transport- Taking clients to and from there appointments.
Documentation- Progress notes, and support logs.
